“Public Participation Banking” Workshop was held.

The second of the Series of Islamic Economics and Finance Workshops organized by Sakarya University Islamic Economy and Finance Department was held on 28 May 2014 Wednesday at the Institute of Social Sciences. This year’s workshop was Public Participation Banking. Expert academicians and managers participated in this workshop.

The workshop started with Head of Department of Islamic Economy and Finance Department Assoc. Dr. Dr. Mehmet Saraç’s opening speech and Prof. Rector. Dr. Muzaffer Elmas made a short welcoming speech. Professor Elmas stated the importance and support of the University of Sakarya to this Islamic economy and finance. The workshop, which consisted of two main sessions before and after the lunch, was discussed with every aspect of the issue of establishing the state’s participation bank, which had been preparing for the last one year, and especially in the recent days.

–          “The effects of the partnership structure of the Participation Banks in achieving a real Islamic economic order”

-“The effects of the partnership structure of the existing participation banks on the participation banking sector”

-“Outputs expected from the public participation banking”

-“Strategies for realizing the expected outcomes from the public participation banking.

The questionnaire was searched by the workshop on the four main topics. Prof. Fatih Savaşan also explained the first findings of the first public opinion survey on public participation banking, which was led by the faculty members of the Islamic Economy and Finance department of the University.

The initial results of a study of 1,200 sample masses of participating bank customers indicate that the state participation bank should be in a completely separate capital and separate institutional structure from the existing state banks.

At the end of the workshop, he read the result report prepared in the light of the ideas discussed throughout the day. The common sense of the participants was that this Workshop was able to bring out very useful views and recommendations on the establishment and future of the state participation banks, whose preparations are at last.
