Research Center for Islamic Economics and Finance (RECISEF) will organize a workshop titled as “Gharar in Classical Fiqh and Its Effect on Current Economic Transactions” on 9 December 2018 at , Rectorate Senate Hall, Sakarya University.

Various studies have been made on Gharar (uncertainty) in the classical Islamic jurisprudence texts. The Gharar has an obvious effect on the todays economic transactions i.e. insurance, banking, capital markets.

In this workshop, the essence of gharar and its consequences in the fiqh will be discussed. Then the concept of gharar and its effects on current economic transactions, which is encountered in, especially in derivative market transactions, will be discussed by academicians who are experts in their field.

Finally, a new approach to the gharar in Islamic economics will be proposed.
