“Tekafül (Islamic Insurance)” workshop was held within the scope of “Islamic Economics and Finance Workshops” organized by Sakarya University Research Center For Islamic Economics and Finance (RECISEF) and Institute of Social Sciences. Speaking at the opening of the workshop held at the Senate Hall of the Rector of SAÜ Prof. Rector. Dr. Muzaffer Elmas stated that was done studies to put forward values in social areas with centers established in the university and Islamic economics is also at the beginning of the most controversial and contemporary issues in this sense.
Stating that Islamic economics is a very broad and comprehensive issue, Muzaffer Elmas: “Universities that are on the road in this regard need to do more studies. We care about such studies. Once the studies has arrived at a point, subject-based studies can be done. Taking into account the conditions of the global world, the subject must be handle. Today, there are many different viewpoints on insurance. As a university, we support these studies and we want to have a good result for the future from this workshop. I think that we can reach a successful result in this issue by connecting quickly with other studies done in our country.”
Following the opening speeches at the workshop, presentations on the following titles were made: “Takaful (Participation) Insurance System and Theory”, “Takaful in Life Insurance (Participation Insurance)”, ” Is there a difference between Commercial Insurance and Takaful?”, “Takaful in AAOIFI Standarts”, “Current Problems of Takaful Applications: An Assessment for Turkey Market”.
